Majan Takes Line Honours in the Dubai-Muscat Race29th November 2009

Oman Sail’s Arabian 100, Majan skippered by Paul Standbridge crossed the finish line off Bander Al Rowdha, Muscat, Oman at 18:44 49 on the  28th November 2009 to take line honours. A great finish to the inaugural Tour of Arabia that began over two weeks ago, tracing out this new five-leg route across the GCC region from Kuwait via Qatar, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and finishing in Muscat, the home base of Oman Sail.

Dubai-Muscat Finish Line on the Horizon28th November 2009

On the morning of day three of the Dubai – Muscat Offshore Sailing Race, the vast majority of the fleet is now through the Strait of Hormuz and have turned the corner heading for the finish in Muscat, Oman. As expected, Oman Sail’s Arabian 100 Majan, skippered by Paul Standbridge and crewed by young  Omani protégés are in the lead and are now speeding along at well over 13 knots. The majestic trimaran is just over 100 miles from finishing its maiden race. Majan is due in Muscat later this afternoon, they need to cross the line before 5 pm local time to break the record.

Dubai-Muscat Race Underway27th November 2009

Oman Sail’s Arabian 100, Majan, started the Dubai-Muscat yacht race, organised by the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club, yesterday which is the final leg of the inaugural Tour of Arabia circuit. The A100 is a favourite for the line honours of this 360-mile race and is expected to arrive in Muscat today.

Majan completes fourth Tour of Arabia leg to Abu Dhabi19th November 2009

Oman Sail’s A100 trimaran Majan completed the fourth leg of the Tour of Arabia from Doha, Qatar in less than 15 hours having left Doha at 1200 (local time) and reaching Abu Dhabi this morning at 0300 hours. Majan will directly depart on the penultimate leg to Dubai today, the final leg starts on 27th November to Muscat, Oman which will see the Oman Sail team compete in the region’s Dubai-Muscat race.  More to follow from Majan’s media crew man Mark Covell…

Oman Sail’s A100 trimaran Majan now in Doha, Qatar16th November 2009

Majan arrived in Doha, Qatar, yesterday having completed the third leg of the Tour of Arabia from Bahrain. Mark Covell, onboard media crew for Oman Sail, said: “The trip to Qatar was only held up by shifting winds and poorly lit fishing nets. We held a constant bow watch, often needing to change course 90 degrees to get round the ends of the nets.” The Oman Sail team will be in Qatar for two days before departing for the fourth leg to Abu Dhabi on the 18th.  Read Mark’s latest update in full below…

Departing for Bahrain on Leg 3 of Tour of Arabia to Qatar14th November 2009

Oman Sail’s Majan is all set to depart Bahrain for Qatar after a brief stop in a country that is mourning the loss of the King of Bahrain’s uncle. Paul Standbridge and the Majan crew will leave Bahrain this morning and expect to arrive in Qatar tomorrow during daylight hours to clear customs.  Expect more colour reports from Majan’s on board reporter Mark Covell, you can read his first leg updates below…

Majan midway through first leg to Bahrain11th November 2009

Majan is approximately halfway through her first leg of the Tour of Arabia from Kuwait to Bahrain.  At 0815 GMT this morning, the Majan crew were sailing along at 8.8 knots in just under 7 knots of wind speed from WNW. All fine onboard and Majan expects to arrive in Bahrain tomorrow morning (Thursday), plenty of shipping and oil rigs en route!

Majan starts first leg of Tour of Arabia10th November 2009

Oman Sail’s A100 trimaran, Majan, has said goodbye to Kuwait where the crew received a warm welcome and inquisitive interest from the media and locals during their time in Kuwait City. The Majan crew, skippered by Paul Standbridge, are now heading to Bahrain, setting off on the 272 miles course at 0943 GMT (1243 AST). Tracing out this new five-leg route across the GCC region, this is ultimately a tour of discovery as the crew of Majan experience sailing in these waters and developing the future editions of the event.  On board media crew man, Mark Covell, will be sending back regular reports, photos and videos.
